Magazine Specialist

Heather Barron is a trained journalist, having successfully completed the National Council of Journalists’ course at Darlington College in 1980.

Her life since then has included journalism, personnel management, marketing and sponsorship – not to mention being a mum to four children.

She specialises in writing for magazines, mainly Living, the high quality publication from the Newsquest portfolio. Her writing is of a high quality and she has a friendly, easy-going approach which makes it easy to talk to her. She recently successfully completed a CELTA qualification (Certificate in Teaching English To Speakers of Other Languages), underlining her ability to communicate expertly through the English language.

Before that, she spent 10 years working for Darlington Borough Council in marketing and sponsorship and has a wealth of experience in promoting, organising and financially supporting events, including the Best of Darlington Awards, The Vibe Awards, Darlington Proms In The Park, and the Darlington Mayor’s Charity Ball.

Outside of her professional commitments, she plays an important role in community life, as a governor of Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington, and treasurer of the town’s New Blackwell Lawn Tennis Club.
